Wine FP&A Senior Financial Analyst

In 1981, we planted our first vineyard with a mission to make world-class Bordeaux-style blends, but since then we've expanded our knowledge of viticulture in the unique region of Paso Robles. 

JUSTIN is seeking a Wine FP&A Senior Financial Analyst to provide financial analysis and strategic support to business stakeholders, including our newly acquired Lewis Cellars in Napa Valley, our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) sales teams, Marketing and G&A departments, and our Estate Vineyards team. This position is expected to conduct financial analyses to identify and understand business drivers, then communicate insights and recommendations to senior management, including the FIJI/JUSTIN Senior Executive Team and The Wonderful Company’s Corporate Finance and Treasury Team.

He/she will have highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively at all levels of the organization.

This position is based in Paso Robles, CA and reports into our Wine FP&A Manager.

Job Description

A Day in the Life at JUSTIN:

  • Develop and manage reports and tools to support monthly financial results and sales trend analysis, and presentation of financials to senior management
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly close, including consolidation of management financials, variance explanations and journal entries
  • Develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts and supporting models, focusing on underlying business drivers, key financial and operating metrics, and sensitivity analysis
  • Support longer-term P&L and cash flow forecasting, preparing views for The Wonderful Company's Finance and Treasury Team and FIJI/JUSTIN's senior management
  • Take large quantities of customer data and analytic results and condense them into a coherent story with clear, easy-to-understand conclusions and implications
  • Create P&L views for key cross-sections of the business, including brand, product, and DTC channel (Tasting Rooms, Restaurant, and Inns, as well as Wine Society and eCommerce)
  • Collaborate with P&L and cost center managers to monitor budget adherence and ensure good financial decision-making
  • Assess and track key performance and operating metrics for the business
  • Utilize JD Edwards and other Oracle financial systems as well as Microsoft Power BI to develop value-added reporting tools
  • Support ad-hoc analytical and strategic projects, and any other tasks as required
  • Understand financial operations of the business and educate others inside and outside the Finance/Accounting group about the financial performance of their respective area

Qualifications

Your Contribution to JUSTIN:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in FP&A or related field; experience in CPG/beverage or Wine industry is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or a related field is preferred
  • Occasional travel required (domestic), to collaborate with business stakeholders and colleagues at our wineries and hospitality properties in Paso Robles, Sonoma, and Napa Valley, and at our Los Angeles headquarters
  • Robust and meticulous analytics and strategic thinking capability, with a keen eye for continuous improvement
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required; knowledge of VBA, JDE, Oracle, and/or Microsoft Power BI is a plus
  • Collaborative team player, strong relationship-building, and active partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Hands-on/roll-up-your-sleeves approach, working with our entire Finance team to produce high quality work products; we are a detail-oriented organization and will drill to invoice-level data when needed
  • Meet all deadlines/deliverables; we are a fast-paced environment with strict timetables to ensure we complete all assigned work
  • Candidates must be comfortable with changing priorities and able to manage themselves effectively amidst change
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication, presentation, organizational and teamwork skills are required
  • Ability to build and maintain internal customer relationships; works well with others, collaborative and cooperative
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently; high sense of urgency and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to interact regularly with department leadership and senior executives in a confident and professional manner
  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption
