Job Description

The Microbiologist is responsible for sample collecting and testing for Environmental and Water Monitoring Programs, and specific projects. Conduct daily in-house micro testing for finished goods. Provide technical support/resource for quality assurance personnel, production and other plant departments. Co-ordinate and follow up on all outside laboratory testing programs.

Here's What You'll Do:

Environmental and Water Monitoring Programs

Responsible for overseeing Environmental and Water Monitoring Program, collecting environmental and water samples, and prepare the samples for 3rd party laboratory testing. Perform in-house testing as needed.

On -- Site Micro Testing

Assist in daily micro testing for finished goods and / or raw ingredients, ensure that the product in compliance.

Harvest Lot Testing

Responsible for collecting the samples, preparing them for 3rd party laboratory testing, and organizing the retain samples in inventory.

Data Entry and Recordkeeping

Enter the testing results in the designated documents, and communicate to Director for the updates on the results. Responsible for maintaining result records that will allow for food safety of product and ingredients.

Technical Assistance

Responsible for providing technical assistance to Food Safety and Quality Assurance operations and aid in achieving product food safety and quality by developing microbiological and chemical capabilities.

 

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with state specific food safety laws and the biology of micro-organisms.
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations based upon research outcomes.
  • Ability to see the plan with business perspectives, and work hands on to complete given tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to provide guidance and assistance to all levels of employees, with professional communication skills, directing personnel on duties and assignments.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently, performing efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to scheduling and environments.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to perform analysis and communicate results effectively.
  • Computer-literate, intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Food Science or any other applicable sciences is a must. Food industry QA/Food Safety/Sanitation experience of at least 3 years, with an emphasis on troubleshooting microbiological situations and managing the microbial monitoring programs.
