Job Description

Overview:

Supervise farming operations for designated area, plan daily tasks for work group, purchase needed materials, and assist in budgeting process. Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day cultural and/or technical operations of citrus orchards within a specified area. Work with other departments and outside contractors to optimize efficiency of farming operations.

Here's what you'll do:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate activities pertaining to the production of citrus in assigned geographic areas.
  • Supervise day to day operations, including: fertility, pest control, weed control, irrigation, pruning, frost protection, and other related ranch projects.
  • Give direction, display leadership, provide training and guidance, and promote teamwork within the labor force and other departments within Wonderful Citrus for a productive and harmonious work atmosphere.
  • Schedule, coordinate, supervise and monitor all irrigation functions by implementing irrigation schedules.
  • Supervise full-time employees year round, as well as the seasonal employees required to complete the cultural tasks.

  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.
  • B.S. degree in Agricultural related studies preferred or three years agricultural operations experience.
  • Understanding of citrus cultural programs and the ability to implement these programs, including irrigation, pruning, fertility, pest control, weed control, and soil amendments.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and comply with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Necessary to have basic understanding of safety programs and pesticide use reporting. Helpful to have knowledge of the scope and operation of private and federal water districts.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred but not required.
