Job Description

Here's What You'll Do:

  • Build and lead a team that will create and implement a vision for successful student transitions from high school to college and career
  • Plan and execute a successful College Transition for students by capitalizing on university and Wonderful Education resources And building a pipeline of support.
  • Support Executive Director in the alignment and implementation of Health and Wellness, Academic Achievement, scholarship eligibility, transition, and retention of Wonderful College Scholars
  • Develop short and long-term plans to support the successful transition of high school graduates who start college as juniors, including customized support for first-time freshmen transitioning with an A.S.T degree directly into upper-division coursework expected to fast-track graduation.
  • Effectively coach a team of high-quality staff to align resources and programs that target first-year college students at various college campuses throughout the state of California.
  • Work closely with the Research and Evaluation team to determine integrated program effectiveness; make changes to service delivery as needed; support with assessments and performance management tools.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled department and team meetings, supervision, and training to motivate staff for success, promote team building, create professional and technical skill development, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Collaborate with Wonderful Education leaders from College Prep (for employees' children), Agriculture Career Prep (early college pathway), and College Prep Academy (charter schools), as well as Central Valley-based high school partners.
  • Establish strong, productive, and trusting relationships with college site staff and administrators to ensure aligned goals and quality programs linking to college and career success.
  • Create and implement policies and procedures to better track and support student retention at four-year college institutions.
  • Support with the development and implementation of all integration projects, ensure all deliverables are met or exceed expectations, and financial/budgetary reports are tracked and within financial parameters; Help build an integrated intake and enrollment system that will help inform effective case management and support.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • Advanced degree in education, counseling, social work, urban planning, or related field strongly preferred; extensive field experience may substitute for degree
  • 8+ years of progressive management experience in youth and higher education development programs or associated arenas.
  • Analytic and decisive decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals;
  • We are committed to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
  • Experience working with low-income, first-generation college students, preferably from rural or agricultural communities.
  • Innovative, entrepreneurial, and adept at solving complex problems.
  • Visionary, able to manage a team toward ambitious outcomes and build support among stakeholders.
  • A history of achieving outstanding results and coaching, mentoring, and managing others in a collaborative, fast-paced, and high-performing environment
  • Demonstrates initiative, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and personal professional growth.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; superior analytic skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish a plus.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to meet with partners throughout California.
  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.
