Job Description
The Role:
The Sourcing Manager will lead sourcing projects to ensure a robust supply of materials and components to launch and sustain a variety of new and existing products. The position requires a strong combination of commercial analysis and project management skills, in order to develop compelling business cases for sourcing approaches, whilst engaging internal and external stakeholders. You will be building the supply chains that are the basis of existing and new products for Suterra.
Our unique, state of the art facility provides the capabilities for leading edge research, production and quality control while creating a strong, team-based environment all in one location. This person will interface closely with high performing, vertically integrated teams such as; Engineering, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Finance. Each product we sell reduces the need for pesticides in the food we eat. No matter which team member we have creating solutions today, they are also working to make the world a better place. Naturally.
Here's what you'll do:
Sourcing for New Products:
- Collaborate with Product Design, Engineering and Manufacturing to understand new material and component requirements in detail. Utilize that in-depth understanding to create sourcing approach.
- Own full sourcing process from identifying and assessing vendors through management of RFPS and RFQs and final commercial negotiations.
- Create recommendations for supplier selection that meet the business needs and gain buy-in from stakeholders.
- Onboarding of selected vendor(s); including contracting, specifications and quality reporting, logistics, sample runs, and import/export compliance.
Vendor Management and Risk Mitigation:
- Execute vendor management strategies & action plans to optimize value and mitigate supply risk through the existing vendors, including commercial terms and contracting.
- Negotiate commercial terms and resolve commercial issues with existing vendors.
- Track vendor performance in the areas of quality, delivery and cost.
- Partner with Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering to identify the root cause of raw material quality issues and work cross-functionally to propose and implement solutions.
Project Management:
- Create project workplans with clear timelines and deliverables and communicate plan to stakeholders for effective implementation.
- Provide analytical support to Product Management and Finance to recommend strategic buy plans for critical strategic materials in support of long-term production plans.
Beyond the sourcing responsibilities, this person can expect to be:
- A collaborator: Partner with departments across the company to provide procurement expertise.
- A problem solver: Connect the dots to create clarity, explore options and drive supply chain problems to resolution, limiting impact on production and risks for the business.
- An influencer: Provide regular insight and recommendations based on financial modeling to support effective decision making across all aspects of the business.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
- COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption
- 5+ years' experience in a high-performance business in purchasing, supply chain, manufacturing, engineering or related function.
Preferred Experience:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related technical field.
- Previous experience with ERP systems and an interest in becoming a subject matter expert in our ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics D365.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems while mitigating risks to resources and deadlines.
- An ability to maintain composure under pressure and to make effective decisions quickly.
- An ability to understand conflicting incentives and to work with external parties to generate positive outcomes for the business.
- Enthusiasm for teamwork at multiple levels and across multiple functions of the organization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Rigorous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
