Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Software Engineering Team at the Wonderful Agency. The role will be involved in the design, implementation, and development of services to support various aspects of our business, including marketing efforts, customer hospitality, and e-commerce. A qualified candidate will have a background and education in engineering performant distributed data services.

A Day In the Life at Wonderful:

  • Design service architectures to support e-commerce, content management, and other business needs
  • Be able to instrument, debug and optimize container-based services for performance and stability
  • Create and maintain Kubernetes deployments
  • Perform efficient, large scale data ingestion, munging, and storage
  • Maintain robust and clear documentation
  • Create and maintain unit, integration, and load tests
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and clients
  • Mentor junior team members by participating in code reviews, system designs, implementation decisions, performance optimization, and overall best practices.
  • Work with third parties to integrate systems
  • Keep familiar and inform the team of current and emerging web, database, online services, and other relevant technology trends

Qualifications

Your Contribution to Wonderful:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience ( 7+ years )
  • Expert working with Python 3
  • Expert in a Python web framework such as Django and FastAPI
  • Strong Experience in server infrastructure and security protocols
  • Strong Experience exposing services using REST, Pub/Sub, and WebSockets
  • Strong Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Experience with data big data workflows and tools
  • Experience working with Redis
  • Strong Experience with a cloud provider such as GCP, AWS, or Azure
  • Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes
  • Experience with PyUnit Testing Framework
  • Experience using Sphinx for documentation
  • Experience with Git and Git-flow
  • Experience working with asyncio or other async platforms in Python a plus
  • Experience with Big Query, Pandas, and Dataflow are a plus
  • Experience working with data pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow and Beam are a plus
  • Demonstrable knowledge of command-line Linux tools and shell scripting
  • Strong understanding of internet architectures and protocols
  • Excellent communication skills
  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption
