Job Description

The successful candidate will perform on-site construction inspections of various transportation-related construction projects, including major bridge and highway projects. Project locations may be anywhere within the greater New York metropolitan area, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform on-site construction inspections ensuring work performed is in accordance with contract documents - travel is required to job sites on a regular basis
  • Ensure projects meet compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local rules/regulations and client contract provisions
  • Monitor and adhere to project schedule
  • Inspect and monitor work progress on-site
  • Maintain Daily Job Diary documenting the type and location of work performed, each contractor’s labor and equipment, and all pertinent details relative to the progress of the work
  • Provide photographic documentation of the work in progress, including if/when unforeseen conditions, disputed work, or deficiencies in the work are encountered
  • Ensure that the construction contractor workforce is sufficient, and that work is being diligently executed in strict compliance with the contract documents

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required
  • NICET level II certification is strongly preferred
  • 1+ years of professional construction inspection experience, including experience with work zone traffic control
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English
  • Experience and familiarity with New York State Department of Transportation projects
  • Valid driver’s license and ability/willingness to travel to field construction sites on a regular basis required
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
  • Ability to work night shifts, if required
  • OSHA 10 training certification, minimum

Additional Information

The annualized pay range for this position is $66,000 - $95,000/year.
