The Vertex Companies, LLC (VERTEX) is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the Industrial Hygiene Healthcare team in our Columbia, MD office. Typical projects include: traditional industrial hygiene surveys and audits, indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments, noise surveys, risk assessments, environment of care consulting, mold and water loss assessments/investigations, OSHA monitoring, etc. 

Core Responsibilities

• Work with Regional Vice President and Healthcare Practice Leader in establishing growth strategy for practice area
• Management of healthcare-related projects, including meeting budget and delivery timeframes ensuring client satisfaction, and independent interface with clients and staff employees on a regular basis
• Perform inspections/assessments, building material sampling, water sampling and air monitoring related to Healthcare Consulting Services
• Business development operations including prospecting, proposal development, client presentations, trade shows, and participation in Client Management Program (CRM)
• Make employee safety a priority both in-house and onsite, in accordance with corporate policy

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
• 7+ years of professional industrial hygiene experience, including project management, report writing, and field investigation
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) a plus
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Ability to travel regionally up to 80% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs
• Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and local regulations
• Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour)
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to complete complex tasks, handle multiple priorities, and perform exceptionally under fast-paced conditions
• Ability/willingness to participate in medical surveillance including respirator fit testing and vaccinations
• Ability to walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain, and carrying field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularity
• Ability/willingness to use Personal Protective Equipment, including the use of respirators
