VERTEX is looking for a dynamic and innovative Industrial Hygiene Leader to join our Environmental Services team and expand our IHBS services and market share in New England. The Regional Area Lead will leverage VERTEX’s existing client relationships and resources and their own professional network to drive regional business development strategies and champion client delivery excellence.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to manage and lead the expansion of a successful Industrial Hygiene regional practice with the support of well-funded and growing professional services AEC company. We provide comprehensive Industrial Hygiene services to a wide-ranging client base, including IAQ and Industrial Hygiene assessments for a variety of clients including many of the largest top tier institutions in industry, real estate, higher education, insurance, hospitality, and commercial customers in the region. Successful candidates will have a strong reputation in the IHBS industry and be able to balance business development with client and team management effectively.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead a staff of Industrial Hygienists and Industrial Hygiene technicians in developing and servicing our existing Industrial Hygiene client base.
  • Develop and grow new and existing IHBS client relationships and expand our diversity of services offered throughout New England
  • Develop, coordinate schedule the team’s project work and deliverables for the region
  • Ensure client delivery excellence by providing senior level oversight, project management and technical support for multiple client projects
  • Coach, mentor and support the Northeast US IHBS team, including hiring and retention, team management, professional and career development
  • Provide oversight of hazardous material sampling, identification, and assessments
  • Ensure accurate consultant time reporting and client billing within accounting deadlines
  • Manage project budgets and timelines effectively, exceeding client expectations
  • Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy

Qualifications

  • BS in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Microbiology, or related ESH field
  • 15+ years of progressive professional IHBS work experience, including at least 5 years of project management and supervising a diverse team of IHBS Technicians and professionals
  • Proven experience acquiring new business development clients and expanding revenue with existing clients
  • Experience providing technical expert oversight and support of complex client EHS projects
  • Extensive knowledge of region’s state and federal program regulatory requirements
  • State Asbestos Certifications a plus
  • Desired certifications (any of the following are a plus): CIH, CSP, MSIH, CHMM, CPEA, PG, PE, PMP
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to perform exceptionally under fast-paced conditions
  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
  • Ability/willingness to work night/weekends and travel to client sites as required
