With a focus on commercial, institutional, industrial, residential, and multi-tenant sites, the Site/Civil Engineer will perform design tasks for a variety of projects including drainage design, grading, roadways, and site & utilities layout.

VERTEX’s diverse range of projects will allow the selected Engineer to rapidly expand their knowledge base and grow their responsibilities. You will perform and direct the preparation of design and construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, supporting documents, and permit applications with a team of CADD Technicians, Designers, and other Engineers, with an increasing level and frequency of supervision and scheduling of team members. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other discipline Engineers on multi-discipline projects.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform and verify design computations and plan preparation for conformance with codes, manuals, and design considerations
• Attend and participate at client and agency meetings as appropriate
• Prepare and review drainage and/or roadway designs
• Research code requirements and design procedures manuals
• Coordinate with other Engineers, CADD Technicians, and administrative assistants during preliminary and final document preparation
• Prepare correspondence, technical specifications, studies and design reports
• Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field
• 2+ years of professional site/civil engineering experience, including site grading, drainage, roadway, and utility layout design 
• EIT licensure is strongly preferred
• Ability to travel independently to visit sites throughout the region is required
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities under fast-paced conditions
• MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
• AutoCAD Civil3D proficiency required (experience with MicroStation would be beneficial)
• HydroCAD, HY-8, HEC-RAS, SWMM, TR-55, and/or HEC-HMS experience is preferred
• InRoads/OpenRoads experience is preferred but not required
