We are seeking an Event Technician to join our Event Services team to coordinate and deliver audio-visual and logistical support across a wide range of University of Auckland events, faculties and departments. Based across our campuses, this is a hands-on role supporting both in-person and online events.
In this varied and practical role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating technical and event equipment, delivering logistics support, and ensuring high-quality service to internal clients. Your work will include supporting live events, webinars and streamed content, as well as managing event setups and pack downs.
You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment. This role requires flexibility, with evening and weekend work required as part of event delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering audio-visual and technical support, including setup, operation and troubleshooting of equipment
- Supporting online and hybrid events, including webinars, live streaming and video management
- Coordinating event logistics, including equipment setup, furniture and resource planning
- Managing bookings, schedules and enquiries to ensure smooth event deliver
- Maintaining health and safety standards, including risk assessment and compliance requirements
- Supporting team operations, including supervising casual staff and maintaining organised storage areas
This is a permanent full-time position(37.5 hours per week). The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $65000 (pro-rated, for part time), negotiable depending on skills and experience.

You are an experienced Event Technician with a strong background in audio-visual support and event delivery. You are confident working with a range of technical equipment and enjoy being hands-on in delivering high-quality events, including live and online formats.
You bring a proactive and positive approach, with strong interpersonal skills that enable you to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders. You are organised, adaptable and comfortable working under pressure, whether independently or as part of a team. You are also physically capable of manual setup and pack down and take pride in delivering reliable, professional service.
E rapua ana mātou | We are seeking
- Relevant qualification in audio-visual production, lighting or a related field, or equivalent experience
- At least five years’ experience providing audio-visual support for events and functions
- Demonstrated experience operating audio-visual and event production equipment
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
- High level of digital capability, including Microsoft Office applications
- A full driver’s licence and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
