Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As a Research Programme Coordinator, you'll work alongside leading researchers within the Faculty of Science, providing essential operational, financial, and project coordination support across the full research lifecycle.

This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to build strong relationships across the University while contributing to research that makes a difference locally and globally.

Ngā Haepapa Matua | Key Responsibilities (not limited too):

  • Supporting researchers with funding applications, budgets, and proposal submissions.
  • Coordinating research projects from commencement through to completion.
  • Monitoring project progress, expenditure, milestones, and reporting requirements.
  • Providing advice and guidance on research support services and processes.
  • Working closely with researchers and internal service teams to navigate funding, compliance, ethics, contracts, and project administration.
  • Managing project documentation and maintaining accurate records and systems
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate University and Funder policies, guidelines, and protocols.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position

Remuneration: $63,600 - $79,300 per annum, dependent on experience

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in project coordination, research administration, and financial administration
  • Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Confidence working with financial information, budgets, and reporting.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Passionate about supporting important research that contributes to society

Experience within a tertiary education, research, or research-intensive environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
