12-Month Fixed-Term Opportunity
As Assistant Asset Accountant, you will support the delivery of financial asset accounting services across the University. This role ensures accurate asset-related transactions, reporting, and reconciliations, contributing to sound financial practices and compliance. You’ll assist with month-end and year-end processes, prepare asset reports, and provide support for audits and general accounting activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with asset-related month-end and year-end processes.
- Processing monthly asset journals and accruals.
- Preparing and reconciling asset balances and reports.
- Supporting internal and external audits.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with controls.
- Providing support to Faculties and Service Divisions and contributing to process documentation.

This is a 12-Month, Fixed-Term, full time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday). The pay range is $73,400-$78,600 pa depending on experience.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You are detail-oriented and organised, with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a collaborative approach. You can manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work within deadlines.
What you’ll bring:
- A BCom or equivalent qualification (or currently studying towards one).
- Ideally working toward CA membership with a professional accounting institute.
- Minimum two years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
- Knowledge of accounting best practice and strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in a large, complex organisation and familiarity with PeopleSoft, SAP, or Oracle is an advantage.
