Students in the School of Psychology can major in psychology through a Bachelor of Arts or Science, and we anticipate a Bachelor of Psychology beginning in 2027. We have several graduate programmes and international research leaders across a wide range of fields, including cognitive neuroscience, Māori and Pacific psychology, social, clinical, developmental, behavioural, and evolutionary psychology. The School of Psychology recognises the distinctiveness of the Aotearoa New Zealand context and is committed to upholding te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We believe great teaching transforms lives. We’re looking for two passionate and engaging educators to join our School of Psychology, where you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality undergraduate teaching and supporting student success. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver courses, bringing psychology to life through engaging teaching, and design and deliver effective assessment and learning materials.
Working closely with a dedicated academic team, you’ll contribute to a collaborative, inclusive teaching environment that supports students from diverse backgrounds to succeed. You’ll also play an important role in fostering student engagement through pastoral care, while contributing to the ongoing development of innovative, future-focused curriculum and broader academic service within the School.

This is a full-time (40 hrs per week) permanent role.
The remuneration range is $105,791 - $116, 929 per annum, dependent on skills and experience

We’re looking for people with a postgraduate qualification in Psychology (ideally a PhD), who bring teaching experience, a student-centred mindset, and a genuine interest in continuous improvement as an educator. You’ll be someone who values collaboration, embraces diversity, and is motivated to make a positive impact in higher education. Interest in research methods and/or pastoral care are assets for these positions.
Essential:
- Postgraduate qualification in Psychology
- Demonstrated teaching experience and commitment to student success
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills
- Experience in curriculum design and diverse teaching delivery methods
- Expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies
