Do you have experience in accounts receivable processes and do you consider yourself a administrative whiz?


Due to internal promotion, we are seeking an Accounts Receivable Administrator to join our busy team which sits within the Finance Shared Transaction Centre.


The role will see you work with internal and external partners to ensure all types of accounts receivable transactions are effectively and efficiently managed. We need you to have exceptional attention to detail and problem solving abilities. You will also need to manage multiple systems and procedures.

Your responsibilities will involve:

  • Proactively interpret and analyse requests and provide expert advice to ensure compliance with university policies and to achieve positive outcomes
  • Manage customer setup and maintenance, ensuring invoice requests and credit notes are processed accurately and reconciled efficiently
  • Provide expert advice and resolution of complex billing and payment related issues through investigation and re-education of internal and external customers to ensure compliance with Receipting and Banking policy and procedures
  • Daily banking reconciliations from multiple sources. Investigating unidentified payments and ensuring that all receipt files, dishonoured payments, and payment transfers are completed to meet critical month end timeframes along with the associated disbursement journals
  • Support the Accounts Receivable (AR) Team Leader to execute operational plans for the on-going functions of the team
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders that meet each party's needs and agreed outcomes
  • Always demonstrate excellent customer service through reliable, efficient and accurate execution of service deliverables

This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), 12 month fixed-term position.
The remuneration is $60,501 - $67,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

The Shared Transaction Centre (Accounts Payable and Receivable) provides a platform that enables the University to move toward best practice for financial processing, administration efficiency and improve service delivery across the organisation. It utilises the best use of resources, systems, skills and expertise (economies of scale and skill). It supports development of a service user ethos and improves user-facing services.

Our ideal candidate will be experienced in working in a similarly complex organisation, working to tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment and up to date with current accounts receivable processes.
You will enjoy balancing the requirements to process high volumes of payment transactions in an efficient manner while providing provide excellent service to students and corporate customers about transactions, refunds and invoice payment

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills
  • Experience using an ERP system e.g. PeopleSoft
  • Be proficient in Microsoft excel as well as able to pick up the internal, industry specific software quickly
  • You will be experienced working in a customer-focused environment, with strong problem-solving abilities
