Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Our Media Production team is seeking a talented and versatile Photographer to join their close knit, creative team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across a variety of projects and locations within the university, capturing the essence of our vibrant academic and student life.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with another experienced photographer sharing responsibilities and covering a wide range of assignments including portraits, events, graduations, sports, and social media campaigns. You will also lend your support to video shoots and assist with content creation for our digital platforms when needed.

Your ability to confidently direct and engage with diverse groups, including academics, staff and students will be key to producing compelling, authentic images. You will manage end-to-end photography projects, from brief through to final delivery, including location scouting, shooting, directing, colour grading and packaging your work. Meeting tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality is essential in this fast-paced environment.

This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours/ week), with a salary range of $64,000- $74,000 per annum dependent on skills & experience. For more detailed information, please refer to the Position Description.

Flexibility is a must as the role involves early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

  • Relevant industry qualification or tertiary degree in Photography, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ photography experience, ideally in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with advanced skills in Lightroom, Camera Raw, and Photoshop.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and subjects.
  • Experience in social media content creation and videography is a plus.
