Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time (0.6) Research Operations Coordinator to join our Faculty of Engineering and Design Research Services team. In this role you will provide high-quality executive, administrative and operational support to the Directors, Research Operations Manager and researchers of MĀPIHI: Māori and Pacific Housing Research Centre.

This position is fixed-term until the end of 2026. 

The salary range for this role is $62,400 - $77,800 depending on qualifications and experience. 

In this role you will provide administrative and operational research support, including:

  • Meeting support, diary and email management.
  • Producing accurate, well presented, and timely documents and presentations as directed.
  • Coordinating and supporting the delivery of research-related events, including symposia, workshops, official visits and public outreach, including event management.
  • Assisting with procurement and travel bookings and arrangements.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and service teams to ensure a consistent high level of operations for the Research Centre.
  • Supporting the research centre’s governance group, including arranging meetings.

  • You will be able to work across a range of administrative activities while also liaising closely with a diverse range of people within the University, MĀPIHI, other organisations and communities.
  • You will be highly organised and efficient with a talent for making things happen on time and in the right way.
  • You will have strong interpersonal and engagement skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills to the role and have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a Māori or Pacific organisation and/or a strongly bicultural environment and a good understanding of Māori or Pacific language and protocols is desirable.
  • You will be proficient in Outlook and able to pick up new skills quickly so that you can adjust to this role with ease.
  • Someone experienced in administration and coordination would be well-suited to this role.
