Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
This vacancy is for a highly detail-oriented, self-managing Timetable Coordinator to create and deliver schedules for academic staff and students associated with the Bachelor of Optometry using custom-built software and Microsoft products. In addition to liaising with faculty and central timetabling staff to support creation of the teaching timetable structure for lectures and labs annually, the Timetable Coordinator schedules staff and Part IV and V students into clinical activities on-site at the University of Auckland Eye Clinic and off-site with multiple partners throughout the year.

This role is based at the Grafton campus and is a Full-Time, permanent role (37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday).

Remuneration:  $62,400k – $69,000k (depending on level of skills and experience)

The School of Optometry and Vision Science is a part of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. We are the only Optometry school in New Zealand, and one of eight schools in Australasia with accreditation from the Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand which enables graduates to practice optometry in New Zealand and in Australia. The university operates a full scope optometry clinic with a large and diverse patient base at its Grafton campus as well as external clinics at other sites throughout Auckland.

You will be someone who enjoys planning and creating solutions to complex problems. You will have a logical approach, self-motivated determination, and a proven ability to prioritise in order to complete the task by a deadline without close supervision. At the same time, you do not “set and forget” a plan; you will be keen to monitor whether the results meet expectations and then adapt or amend plans where necessary.

You will be someone who likes to understand the big picture and can translate that into operational detail, with accuracy and continuous improvement being values that underpin your work. You will be comfortable guiding and directing people to obtain the information you require to ensure the smooth delivery of solutions and can confidently and clearly communicate with a wide range of people to ensure they understand where they need to be (and when).
 

You will have experience with scheduling and/or experience working within a complex environment such as tertiary education. You will be proficient with using Excel with Intermediate level, with an eagerness and confidence to develop your technical skills.
