Job Description
The Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC) provides New Zealanders with independent, factual information based on international and New Zealand scientific research relating to vaccine-preventable diseases and immunisation.
IMAC has been contracted to provide education and support regarding the roll out of the National Immunisation Programme to all health professionals and allied workforces across New Zealand. This includes the vaccinator workforce education and support, plus providing all health professionals with information to help communicate the risks and benefits of immunisation.

The Role:
As a Pharmacy Engagement Lead, you will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships with pharmacists and pharmacy staff, providing mentorship, and ensuring successful delivery of immunisations across the lifespan, with a particular focus on antenatal and childhood immunisations. This role will cover the Central region, including wider Wellington, Manawatu, Hawkes Bay and all in between. You will need to be a fully authorised vaccinator and have knowledge and experience in childhood immunisations. Being an approved clinical assessor would be advantageous, but upskilling will be available if not.
This role will be based with Immunisation Advisory Centre, and you will be part of the wider IMAC Education and Training team
This role can be based in Wellington, Levin, Otaki, Hawke’s Bay or Palmerston North and will cover the Central Te Ikaroa Region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor pharmacists and pharmacy staff to enhance their immunisation capabilities
- Ensure compliance with cold chain management protocols
- Collaborate with IMAC Education teams and regional Immunisation Coordinators for support and training
- Deliver vaccinations in accordance with regulatory standards
- Facilitate pharmacy visits and engagement activities
- Provide expert knowledge of immunisation practices
- Facilitate clinical assessments for pharmacists
The Successful Candidate:
- Fully authorised vaccinator across the life-course
- Strong understanding of the New Zealand pharmacy standards and competencies
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a dynamic schedule
- Full driver's license and access to own vehicle
