The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) is one of seven departments within the UABS. The department teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in most aspects of Business Information Systems, and also teaches Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Business Analytics. There are two Disciplinary Areas in Information Systems: Behavioural Information Systems and Design Science Information Systems. Members of these Information Systems Disciplinary Areas have been publishing in top IS journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of the Management of Information Systems, Journal of the Association of Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Support Systems and others. The Centre of Digital Enterprise (CODE), housed within ISOM, conducts research that takes a broad view on business aspects concerning digital transformation, designed to address contemporary challenges faced by societies, enterprises, policymakers and individuals.
Our Aroaro Research Space offers state-of-the-art facilities to conduct research on the business implications of Augmented/Virtual Reality technology and the evolution of Spatial Computing as tools for a wide range of technology-based business management affairs.
Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) is seeking to appoint a full-time permanent staff at either Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level in Information Systems (Design Science).
From a research perspective, there is a preference for the individual to have an interest in various business aspects that concern the design, development, and deployment of information technologies in individuals, organisations, supply chains, and societies. There is no particular preference for specialisation in either qualitative, and/or quantitative research methods. Candidates should have already published in top-tier Information Systems journals, such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of MIS, Journal of AIS, or Decision Support Systems and have developed a portfolio of publications encompassing publications in other IS ‘basket of 11’ and ‘A* in ABDC’ outlets. It is also important that the candidate regularly participates in top IS and trans-disciplinary conferences (ICIS, ECIS, PACIS, AMCIS, HICSS, ACM, IEEE) and is involved in the AIS, ACM, and/or IEEE scholarly communities.
In terms of teaching, it is highly desirable that candidates are able to teach across information systems modules. We are looking for an experienced teacher with proven abilities to use various teaching methods such as student-centered learning and mixed learning methods.
This is a fulltime (40 hours per week), permanent opportunity.
The remuneration is:
SL1 $120,752 - SL8 $151,251
AP from $157,822

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have leadership capability to support the development and delivery of curriculum; you will be a team player who will support the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management and, more specifically, the Information Systems (Design Science) Disciplinary Area. You will have strong communication skills and are able to articulate your plans and ideas. Suitably qualified with a Phd in Information Systems.
Our ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience:
- Experience in successfully delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Business Information Systems.
- Proven publication track record in top IS journals (such as the ‘basket of 11’ and ‘A* in ABDC’ outlets).
- Proven track record attracting funding from both internal and external reputable funding schemes.
- Proven track record in designing curriculum (part or entire programme).
- Proven track record in successfully supervising graduate students’ research in Business Information Systems (PhDs and Masters).
