Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team at the Aotearoa Centre for Leadership and Governance to contribute to a research pipeline of critical leadership scholarship.

This fellowship will aim to support the development of promising early career researchers with the potential to pursue a career in the Business School. This is an exciting opportunity for emerging researchers who show the desire to develop a strong teaching and publication record in the business arena.

Applications are encouraged from scholars who are committed to making a contribution to the Business School and an impact to Taumata Teitei through research and teaching in any area of relevance to business.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), fixed term (up to 12 months) opportunity.
The remuneration is PDF 1-3: $87,772 - $90,090 per annum.

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

You will be working with our Centre researchers to build leadership theory and practice that pushes the boundaries of leadership studies. Existing Centre projects include leadership and grand challenges (such as sustainability and climate change), gender, feminist theory and women in leadership, and power, identity and resistance in leadership development.

Centre members also lead and participate in leadership development programmes and interventions (including student and youth leadership development) and are part of inter- and trans-disciplinary funding proposal initiatives. Post docs at the University of Auckland Business School also usually do some teaching at undergraduate level usually in the stage 1 core programmes (no more than 2 courses over the span of a year).

He kōrero mōu | About you

You have a completed PhD in leadership (or related or affiliated area related to collective processes requiring people working together for a shared purpose). You must be a qualitative researcher with preference given to candidates who come from a critical or sociological background with some knowledge of discourse, narrative, Foucauldian, post human or interpretive methodologies. You have experience or interest in leadership development design, delivery and facilitation (optional). Excellent writing and communication skills are essential for this role.
