Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
You will work as part of a team providing technical expertise and assistance to academic staff, students, and stakeholders from the broader research community to access complex or highly specialised research/teaching methods.
You will provide specialist design, expert testing and analytical support for wind related, aerodynamic and fluid dynamic research, testing, and consulting activities for the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, with special emphasis on the work of the Advanced Thermal Engineering and Aerodynamics (ATHENA) Centre through the Aerodynamics / Wind tunnel and Thermofluids Laboratories.
You will need excellent technical, organisational and planning skills, strong writing and verbal communication skills, well-developed people skills, and the ability to work proactively within a team environment.
This role is a full time, 37.5 hours per week. The salary range for this role is $94,900 - $117,200 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

He kōrero mōu | About you
You will have a post-graduate research qualification in Mechanical Engineering or PhD specialised in Aerodynamics / Wind Engineering or in a relevant field, and/or equivalent experience. Additional qualifications / experience in Thermofluids / Fluid Mechanics is preferred but not essential.
You will have a minimum 7 years (post-graduation) experience in the field of aerodynamics including 2 to 3 years’ experience providing specialist advice and support at a senior level in wind tunnel related research. Having several years of experience in providing specialist advice and managing a small group of junior engineers in delivering projects/research would be an advantage.
