Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Te Tomokanga Postdoctoral Fellowship
is a two-year full-time appointment offered each year by Te Kura Tangata, Faculty of Arts. Te Tomokanga refers to a gateway or entry point, in this case for a recent Doctoral graduate to take their first step towards an academic career.

This opportunity is open to Māori and Pacific PhD graduates of Arts disciplines to join one of our four Schools as relevant to their scholarly area. These four Schools are Social Sciences; Humanities; Cultures, Languages and Linguistics and Te Wānanga o Waipapa (the School of Māori Studies and Pacific Studies).

Reporting to the Head of School and supported by world-class academic colleagues, you will conduct research, contributing to the Faculty of Arts’ diverse and high-quality research programme. You will grow your academic network and build a tūrangawaewae (credible foundation) within your discipline. You will contribute to teaching and gain exposure to research funding processes and the internal workings of the Faculty, all of which will aid in your development and preparedness for future academic roles.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), fixed term (up to 24 months duration) opportunity.
The remuneration is $84,396 - $88,853 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

Qualifications

As a suitable applicant, you will have completed a doctoral qualification in the last two years in any subject that Te Kura Tangata Arts offers as a major. You will also display a high potential for the utilisation and development of mātauranga Māori and/or Pacific cultural knowledge.
