This role is with our Shared Transaction Centre (STC). STC is the University of Auckland’s centralised ‘Purchase to Pay’ and ‘Accounts Receivable’ centre. It is responsible for all purchasing, billing, and revenue collection activity for faculties and most service divisions. We perform an operational function, consolidating high volume finance transactional activities relating to the purchasing and supply of goods and services.
Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are currently looking for Temporary Support Staff to cover a hybrid role of Accounts Receivable and some Credit Controller responsibilities. This role is fulltime (37.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday. It is fixed term for up to three months and possibly longer.
The purpose of this role is to assist with process Student refund requests, responding to service queries and credit control phone calls, discussing payment plans,
We are hoping to find someone who is available for an immediate start. If you are able to start the mid July 2023 this would allow for a good hand over period ensuring you a successful and robust training process.
This is a varied role working alongside two teams in Accounts Receivable and Credit Control and supporting the function for the University.

- A confident, customer centric self starter
- A multi tasker, great with problem solving
- Supporting billings and receipting
- preparing reports
- Knowledge of New Zealand Legislation.
Note: Training will be provided for the University Credit Management policy and procedures
Remuneration: $49,300 - $62,000 dependent on experience and qualifications

The Shared Transaction Centre provides a platform that enables the University to move toward best practice for financial processing, administration efficiency and improve service delivery across the organisation. It utilises the best use of resources, systems, skills, and expertise (economies of scale and skill). It supports development of a service user ethos and improves user-facing services.
You will be a part of the Accounts Receivable team which consists of 12-15 team members working well together in a dynamic and enjoyable environment.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You are proactive, confident and professional with experience at working in a large complex organisation. You enjoy working to tight deadlines with a highly varied customer group and you are up to date with current credit management processes.
Ideally we are looking for candidates that have experience with Accounts Receivable and also Credit Control, a focus on billing and receipting and understanding work flow, ability to generate reports, high customer service and working with volume requests.
Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills & Knowledge
- Familiar with relative New Zealand legislation and statutory requirements
- Confident in communicating (verbal & written) as you will be the front face of the organisation
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel as well as able to pick up the internal, industry specific software quickly
- Experience using an ERP system e.g. PeopleSoft
- High standard of accuracy in written and spoken English
- Strong Accounts Receivable background with some experience or exposure to Credit Control.
- Strong problem-solving abilities
