Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity
The Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences Research Services Team seeks to appoint a Senior Research Programme Coordinator (SRPC) to support researchers from the School of Pharmacy. You will be responsible for providing effective coordination for research contracts throughout the research lifecycle, navigation of research support services alongside researchers. The SRPC will be responsible for supporting academics through the research lifecycle, from initial costing and submission of high-quality research proposals to the ongoing management of active projects and project closures.
You will provide excellent advice and guidance to researchers enabling them to submit strong, high quality grant applications. You will build and maintain effective relationships across the University and with key external stakeholders offering exceptional, customer-focused service. You will proactively manage the School’s research grants, providing both financial and non-financial post-award support.
Key Accountabilities
- You will be part of a highly effective team and act as a key point of contact for research related queries within the School of Pharmacy and provide a first class administrative and operational service to researchers covering the planning, delivery, and implementation of research contracts and consultancies.
- Autonomously provide support and advice to researchers on the development of funding proposals, ensuring Funder/Client and University requirements are met.
- You will proactively manage a portfolio of research contracts, providing both financial and non-financial post-award support, ensuring that researchers meet their contracted obligations, and assisting with contract variations as appropriate.
- You will also assist with developing and managing project budgets, including re-forecasting, tracking, and monitoring.
- You will be central to ensuring compliance with appropriate governance guidelines and policies.
- You will contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), permanent role.
Remuneration: $66,600 - $82,200 per annum dependent on experience.

He Kōrero Mōu | About You
You will:
- be tertiary-qualified, with at least 5 years’ experience helping researchers navigate research support services within a complex environment involving multiple stakeholders, utilising numerous administrative systems, ideally in a research support context.
- have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex policies to non-specialists.
- be able to prioritise your workload effectively to meet deadlines, to work independently and to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- work collaboratively with the RPM and Associate Head (Research) to meet the School’s research goals
- have demonstrable experience of financial systems and processes.
- possess excellent IT and communication skills, with a particular proficiency working with Microsoft Excel.
