Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are on the lookout for a Strategic Projects Administrator to work in our Faculty of Engineering. This role is crucial, and the key responsibilities of the role are to ensure, through the provision of professional support, the effective operational planning, delivery and implementation of the Apollo Programme. Apollo is a targeted recruitment programme that provides a pathway into Engineering for high school age Maori and Pacific students – what we deliver in this programme has the potential to change the lives of our students and make a major contribution to aspirations of the Faculty of Engineering.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Assist in the planning and management of project-related work, including the setting of milestones and priorities.
  • Actively monitor and support projects.
  • Coordinate and progress the delivery of projects, undertaking tasks to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor project commitments, forecast costs against budget and help to manage budgets and KPIs throughout the life of each project.
  • Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills through relationship management, advocacy and negotiation with stakeholders.
  • Support and advise Kaiārahi specific meetings, workshops, seminars and panels as agreed by the Kaiārahi.
  • Manage an efficient electronic filing/retrieving and archiving system for Kaiārahi information and data.

This role is Full Time 37.5 hours per week. The salary range for this role is $54,700 - $68,200 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

  • Experience in a support role with multiple stakeholders in a large and complex environment.
  • Experience in coordinating projects.
  • Financial management experience.
  • Experience with relationship building.
  • Bachelor’s degree or completion towards
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Proven people skills and excellent relationship management.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Computer literate with expert knowledge of Microsoft suite of programmes.
  • Understanding of the NZ tertiary sector.
