Job Description

The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

As one of two Content Writers based in the Faculty of Engineering's Communications and Marketing team, you’ll be able to ask the right questions to elicit and process technical information to produce a variety of high-quality content for different purposes and formats. Whist the core objective of the role is web content publishing on our content management system you will also be at ease with publishing content suitable for social media, internal communications platforms and printed and digital marketing materials, so adaptability in your approach and your writing style is imperative, as is the ability to simplify the sometimes complex content.

We are looking for someone with strong writing skills who is adept with the requirements of web publishing content management systems (CMS) (Adobe Experience Manager strongly preferred but not essential) through to writing for both, long and short formats; from writing an article or newsletter to writing for social or marketing content.

This is a Full Time role 32 hours per week. The salary range for this role depending on experience is $54,700 - $68,200 per annum.

Qualifications

About you | He kōrero mōu

You will be an experienced content web publisher, ideally with a background in computer science and / or relevant experience. Your ability to transition from being technically minded to a creative wordsmith, with a curious mindset who is open to identifying opportunities and stories to promote the faculty will be highly regarded. You’ll have the intuition to understand your reader and the ability to tailor your writing in line with their needs.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to be proactive, energetic and comfortable with taking responsibility and managing your own projects.

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake

  • Technical skills relevant to understanding information architecture on web content publishing platforms such as UX/ UI. Ideally HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other web technologies
  • Able to research, collate and summarise information from different sources
  • Logical and analytical with the ability to spot patterns, gaps and repetitions in web content
  • An excellent writer and editor, with good spelling and grammar.
  • Stakeholder services: Understand your audience and tailor your message
  • Planning and Organising: Be able to deliver on time and coordinate your time effectively
  • Prior experience working with a CMS (Adobe Experience Manager highly desired by not mandatory as training will be provided)
  • Excellent copywriting skills
