Marketing is in the midst of a seismic shift, digital innovation is transforming how and when our students discover, explore and engage with us. Technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), hyper personalisation, along with increased customer expectations, present both unique opportunities and hefty challenges.

To adapt and keep pace with this change, The University of Auckland has created a Digital Performance Specialist position within the Central Marketing team, to embed customer and digital analytics into everything we do. 

Reporting to the Digital & Content Manager, you’ll be responsible for supporting the wider marketing team to develop and optimise best in class, performance driven digital marketing campaigns and initiatives, which support the new strategic engagement vision, align with business objectives and deliver a more connected customer experience for prospective and existing students.

As an experienced performance marketer you will act as the subject matter expert to help embed customer and digital analytics into the marketing campaign development process, support digital development projects and provide the senior leadership team with actionable insights, enabling them to make strategic decisions underpinned by data.

In this role you will focus on optimising the domestic student customer lifecycle from acquisition through to conversion with primary responsibility for driving awareness and acquisition and providing significant support to partner teams responsible for other stages of the student customer lifecycle such as marketing automation.

You’ll be a good communicator and confident in sharing your insights and expertise with various agencies, stakeholders and teams across the university to ensure there is a holistic view of all domestic activity with ongoing optimisation to drive results, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment that is going through an exciting digital transformation.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant business, analytical, marketing and or technology discipline.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in digital marketing or agency roles.
  • Sound understanding of data driven marketing, marketing insights and principles of databases.
  • Demonstrated track record of strategic and innovative thinking in campaign management and turning this into delivery of data rich, superior campaigns for a large organisation.
  • Thorough understanding of data segmentation and database marketing processes
  • Ability to influence across all functions in a complex organisation at a mid to senior level.
  • Knowledge of Data Legislation, Governance and Technology platforms.

Desirable

  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform/Big Query.
  • Management of a Google Analytics property for a large scale website.
