Job Description

The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We have an exciting 12 month fixed term opportunity for an Event and Conference Planner to join our Event Services Team at the University of Auckland. This role will be focused on delivering both academic conferences and student events.

You will work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, and will be accountable for end-to-end event management, including project planning, budget management, risk assessment, customer communications, onsite management and debriefs. You will provide expertise, guidance and advice to ensure informed and timely decisions are made ensuring the success of the event.

About the team | Mō tō mātou rōpū

Reporting to the Event Operations Manager, you will work collaboratively with a team of dedicated, innovative and proactive individuals ensuring successful delivery of a wide variety of events – from conferences to awards evenings to orientation events and everything in between.

About you | He kōrero mōu

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum for 2-3 years’ experience implementing both virtual and in-person events, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to inform and advise stakeholders. You will need to hit the ground running and be able to multi-task and work confidently under pressure. You’ll need to use your initiative, and work both independently as well as part of a team.

This role would suit a highly organised go getter with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach. Event experience within a tertiary institution or business events would be an advantage.

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake

  • Experience in a similar role is required and a qualification in Events or tertiary degree is preferred.
  • Experience producing virtual events
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PPT Teams and Outlook.
  • Experience with event management software (ideally Events Air).
