This is an exciting opportunity to step into a newly created role and provide strategic operational leadership for the Group Services function within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Faculty Operations, the Manager of the Group Services function is accountable for planning, guidance, management, and championing a professional service culture within Group Services.

You will play a critical role in supporting the Faculty by developing a deep understanding of the support needs of Academic Heads and academic staff. The Faculty has close to 5000 students and over 1000 staff committed to improving the health of our local, national, and global communities through excellence in teaching, research, and service. You would be expected to provide regular reporting of performance trends within the Faculty and advocating service improvements to the function Lead.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Staff Leadership including development, mentoring, and providing direction for professional staff and ensuring they have the training and resources to perform effectively and achieve agreed goals.
  • Strategy and Planning including leadership in the development of technical strategies and plans, innovation, strategic procurement & asset management, KPI’s, and Financial budgets.
  • Operational Leadership for Group Services which includes management of workforce and allocation of resources, capability, budget, process improvement, policy, and legislative requirements and some facilities management.
  • Responsibility for implementing and monitoring Health & Safety performance standards as per University and legislative requirements.
  • Working with Academic Heads and Group Services to develop strategic and operational plans in support of teaching delivery.

  • You will be passionate about inspiring and growing people.
  • You will have an advanced ability to influence and communicate effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders with strategic planning and implementation in complex environments.
  • You are experienced in team building, change management, and working collaboratively.
  • Experience in supporting the finance function in budget development and management across multiple areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise reports.
