A unique tutoring opportunity is available in Te Kupenga Hauora Māori, as a Tutor for our MAORIHTH 201 paper - a key component of the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences’ Vision 20:20, which is committed to increasing the number of Māori and Pacific health professionals.

The opportunity

  • This tutoring role is for the MAORIHTH 201 paper, which presents an introduction to Māori health.
  • Key tasks of this role will include the organising, implementing and supervising of tutorial sessions; assisting in the marking of assessments and examinations, and contributing to the delivery of key cultural components as part of the programme.
  • There will also be some administration work required.

Who are we looking for?

  • The tutor will be an important person who actively contributes and works collaboratively with the Course Coordinator and wider team to ensure cultural and academic requirements are met.
  • You’ll be qualified to at least bachelors level in a relevant subject area (such as health science, public health, social science or Indigenous studies).
  • You will have previous tutoring experience, and be passionate about working with Māori and Pacific students.
  • You’ll be independent and self-driven, flexible and transparent, with a can-do attitude.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate knowledge around key conceptual content and have strong literacy and academic writing background.

This role is available on a fixed-term basis until the end of 30th November 2020 and is based at Te Kupenga Hauora Māori, on the University of Auckland’s Grafton Campus.
