The School of Psychology is seeking to appoint a Social Research Coordinator to provide specialised technical support and advice to postgraduate students, researchers and academic staff for research activity in the area of Social and Developmental Psychology.  This role is permanent and full-time. 

About the Role

As a Social Research Coordinator, you will bring your passion for  Social and Developmental Psychology in providing a range of specialist technical support across a variety of quantitative and qualitative research projects.  

You will be the go-to person and subject matter expert where you will provide advice on the full social and developmental psychology research lifecycle from cohort studies, ethics approvals, cultural sensitivities and policies regarding research.   You will also support in writing reports, grant applications and research data management (e.g SONA).

You will also be working with a variety of stakeholders, from academic staff to students. So the ability to work with a range of stakeholders will contribute to your success in this role.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • A Master’s degree in Social or Developmental Psychology (or related discipline such as Sociology) 
  • Experience in technical research support in areas relevant to Social or Developmental Psychology, or government, including the use of a range of different research methods and analysis techniques for quantitative and qualitative research designs. 
  • Experience supporting ethics applications for a range of research projects involving different sample populations and methodologies.
  • Intermediate level experience using research analysis software (e.g. SPSS, NVivo, R).
  • A theoretical understanding and practical skills in Social Science research designs (including experimental designs) and methods (including qualitative and quantitative methods) relevant to Social and Developmental Psychology. 
  • Sound understanding of research ethics
  • Exceptional organisational, time management and stakeholder management/negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of stakeholders, from academics to students
  • A positive can-do attitude and be a positive contributor in a team environment.
