The University now has a new campus in central Manukau, from where we will deliver high-quality education. This campus will serve South and East Aucklanders, and strengthen relationships with schools and communities, especially the large Pacific and Māori communities in South Auckland. 

An exciting opportunity has now arisen to appoint a new Head of South Auckland Campus who will lead the University’s operation of the new South Auckland campus, driving engagement activities in South Auckland whilst also seeking and initiating innovative opportunities.  

Job Description

As a key strategic role, the new Head of South Auckland Campus will be a champion of Pacific, Māori, community and school engagement and also of student retention and academic success. They will ensure the campus meets the University’s targeted performance indicators for the South Auckland region including those related to reputation, recruitment, market share, retention, wellbeing and achievement.

Some other key responsibilities include:

  • Strategy, Planning and Development including the implementation of engagement activities across South Auckland and the application of operation and strategic plans.
  • Operational Management including marketing and promotion of the campus, programme development, community engagement and overall day to day running of the campus.
  • People Management including the development of a culture that is inclusive, flexible and encourages excellence. Ensuring that all staff working on campus develop a university awareness relevant to their position.
  • Relationship Management including building and managing key relationships with local educational & culture communities whilst identifying opportunities for further engagement. Strong internal relationships are also a must.
  • Financial Management with input into the preparation of the South Auckland Campus Strategic Engagement budget.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will need to demonstrate cultural capability in working with Pacific and Māori stakeholders and proven relationship management strengths, with clear evidence of your ability to build successful business & community partnerships and drive strategic direction and effective team cultures. With a large emphasis on leadership, this unique role requires strong skills in influencing and driving collaboration in diverse communities and you should have strong networks. High-level communication skills are essential, with verbal, written and inter-personal skills integral to success in this role. Working knowledge of Te Reo Māori or a Pacific language is preferred.
