About the role

Due to the expansion of the Accommodation team and opening of our newest residence, Waipārūrū Hall in early 2020, we are looking for a capable professional who can support the development of a community that is safe, comfortable, supportive, conducive to academic success, and responsive to the needs of students in residence.

Resident coordinators have two key areas of responsibility. The first is to support the Resident Manager in providing an enabling environment that supports the emotional, physical, and academic well-being of all students in our residences. Second is to provide administrative support and front line customer service to residents and other tasks as directed by the Area/Resident Manager. The Resident Coordinator will also be required to be on emergency call for the Area on a rotation basis with other senior staff.

Locations and hours:

  • Waipārūrū Hall - Tuesday – Saturday 2:30pm – 10:30pm

Our ideal candidate

  • Warm and open in your personal style, but with a level of personal integrity that allows you to maintain consistent and respectful standards of behaviour within a community tolerant of diverse perspectives and needs
  • Experienced with event planning and execution, including risk assessments and delegation of tasks in a team environment
  • Available for after-hours/weekend on-call work (on average 1 week in every 3)
  • Open to learning and willing to take initiative to solve problems

As part of the front line of service for Accommodation, you will be friendly, student-focused and enthusiastic, with empathy for tertiary students. Experience working within similar educational/support environments is desirable.

This is a great opportunity to enter the student accommodation profession, join an innovative, vibrant and rewarding work environment offering the satisfaction of supporting students while honing your professional skills.
