Job Description

We have an opportunity for a passionate research fellow with experience in Māori health and/or health inequities to join a new HRC-funded research project investigating experiences of discrimination, bullying and harassment for Māori medical students and doctors.

  • The successful candidate will work on managing literature search and review processes, and the mapping of relevant policies, frameworks and guidelines
  • The Research Fellow will assist with data collection and analysis (quantitative and/or qualitative), present preliminary findings and support production of high quality outputs, including academic journal articles
  • There will also be opportunities to engage with and participate in the broader activities on the HRC project, including meetings with our project advisors

A passion for research with a strong practical and problem solving ability is essential, along with interpersonal skills that enable you to interact comfortably with a range of people across different research disciplines, and across NZ.

This 2.5-year, full-time position will provide an opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers from the University of Auckland, and the University of Otago. Although this is a full-time position, we are open to discussing part time hours. 

We are seeking applications from candidates who:

  • Hold a PhD with expertise in related health fields, including Māori health, public health, epidemiology, health inequities or equivalent work experience may also be considered.
  • Have experience with the analysis of quantitative datasets and/or qualitative data.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have proven ability to work as part of a team and a commitment to Māori health.
  • Can produce high quality research outputs in conjunction with Dr. Donna Cormack and the research team.
