New Zealand eScience Infrastructure (NeSI) delivers High Performance Computing (HPC), data analytics, training, and consultancy services to the NZ Research Sector, Government Initiatives/Agencies and Industrial Research. NeSI is a collaboration of four institutions, including the University of Auckland, working in partnership with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. Our purpose is to grow the computing and analytics capability of researchers to ensure New Zealand’s future prosperity.

Significant research outcomes have resulted from the use of NeSI platforms and services across diverse scientific domains including health, biodiversity, biochemistry and geology, to name just a few. Researchers increasingly depend on HPC to achieve their goals and help them extract insights from big-data. NeSI’s capabilities are at the forefront of innovation in this space.

About the role

The Analyst Programmer role, whilst employed by the University of Auckland, is a national role whose primary responsibilities are for the design and implementation of end-user services supporting researchers. This includes end user driven software design, solution evaluation, integration and development, across web applications, APIs, and databases. A key goal of the role is to support evolution of the business processes and practices of NeSI to deliver user experiences valued by end users.

This is a specialised role, requiring a strong background in the analysis of requirements and design for new services or enhancement to existing services in order to optimise user experience and organisational processes. As a member of a team that is providing national solutions in the high-performance computing and eScience domain, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the country and internationally to develop and deliver a state-of-the art eScience infrastructure and supporting services.
