Job Description

The Maintenance Technician for our community supports the Plant Operations Director to assure proper, consistent maintenance of our community including building interior and exterior, grounds, walkways, driveways and parking lot.

Essential functions of the job are:

  • Support proper and consistent maintenance of facility exterior, including building, lawn, plant and/or flower beds, walkways, driveways, and parking lot.
  • Support proper and consistent maintenance of facility interior, including resident apartments, common areas, offices, storage rooms, and kitchen.
  • Assures all equipment and supplies related to maintenance tasks are stored appropriately and safely.
  • Assures Assistant Executive Director and Plant Operations Director are regularly informed of facility status and particularly of any significant problems for which guidance is necessary.
  • Assures all equipment and supplies related to maintenance tasks are stored appropriately and safely.
  • May be required to drive community vehicles to and from required destinations, safely and according to schedule.

Some additional functions:

  • Demonstrates safe working practices at all times.
  • Listens effectively and provides clear, concise, and accurate verbal and written information including all relevant documentation.
  • Maintains confidentiality and privacy of our residents and staff at all times.
  • Meets the needs and wishes of customers (residents, staff, and families) appropriately by being prompt, polite, professional and personal.
  • Consistently reports to work on-time and completes scheduled shifts.

 

Typical physical and environmental considerations:

  • Maintainability to lift 75 pounds; to stand or walk throughout the vast majority of the workday; and to frequently push, pull, bend, twist, and reach
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity to work with the fingers and to reach/handle items.
  • Must also be able to walk throughout campus on a frequent basis for extended periods of time. (Up to five hours)
  • Involves light to heavy physical activity performing non-strenuous and strenuous daily activities
  • May be exposed to bio-hazardous materials including, but not limited to, blood and bodily fluids, sharps exposure, animal dander, and latex.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in apartment maintenance or similar preferred, but not required
  • Maintains current and appropriate driver’s license or CDL and safe driving record
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, electronic, or schedule form
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to prioritize and organize assignments
  • Proficient PC skills including e-mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc
  • Able to pass a criminal background check prior to employment
  • Able to pass a drug test prior to employment
