The Springs Living is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented person to join our Accounting Team in the position of Senior Accountant. The senior accountant is responsible for accurate and timely financial statement reporting in accordance with GAAP guidelines.  This position requires considerable knowledge of accounting principles and advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills.  It works closely with the other members of the accounting team, human resources, and the business office managers at the communities.

The primary purposes of this position are:

  1. Prepares monthly fully supported financial packets for assigned entities on a timely basis and in accordance with GAAP guidelines.
  2. Provides guidance to home office and community employees to ensure proper accounting and controls.
  3. Identifies, researches, investigates, analyzes, reconciles and resolves general ledger account and/or internal control issues.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Prepares monthly fully supported financial packets for assigned entities on a timely basis, ensuring accurate and quality results.
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries to record accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP, including full documentation.
  • Records and reconciles intercompany transactions.
  • Provides account analysis and maintains depreciation, amortization, prepaid and accrual schedules.
  • Identifies, researches, investigates and resolves general ledger account and/or internal control issues.
  • Analyzes income and expenses each month, comparing actual to budget and trended results, ensuring completeness and accuracy of results and account coding.
  • Provides guidance to home office and community employees to ensure proper accounting and controls.
  • Continually looks for and implements process improvements.
  • Ensures supervisor is regularly and promptly informed of work status and any issues for which guidance is necessary.
  • Completes projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years related accounting experience
  • Knowledge and application of accounting principles and functions, including a full understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with a complex, multi-entity organizational structure preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with team members, peers, and management
  • Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines, by utilizing strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience and proficiency with accounting systems. 
  • Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook applications
  • Demonstrated advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills
