Job Description

The Communications Manager is responsible to effectively inform and promote The Springs Living Purpose, Mission, and Plan, as well as our internal and external communication.  Put simply, the Communications Manager helps The Springs Living tell our story in a coordinated, effective and meaningful way. 

The Communication Manager corresponds with employees and external stakeholders, to keep them informed of identified company developments. This position creates strategies to increase employee awareness, coordination and promote our special culture. Externally, this position will communicate with the media and other interested parties to announce new developments and discuss organizational changes in a way that attempts to maintain a positive image of the company.

 

Three Primary Purposes

  1. Develops and manages internal and external communication goals and strategies
  2. Manages the plans, deployment methodologies, and creates the messages for The Springs Living communications
  3. Serves as adviser in managing The Springs Living reputation
 
Externally:
  • Leads external communication strategies to elevate company profile and reputation
  • Serve as the company spokesperson to the media and the general public, in the event the CEO or President are unavailable
  • Builds relationships with external editorial media representatives
  • Develops, writes, and deploys press releases including interviews and writing
  • Arranges external interviews
  • Develops and distributes materials that may explain or convey the company's key points-of-view, policies or position on issues
  • Oversees external social media strategy and plans
  • Supports The Springs Living strategic objectives by building and leading communication platforms

 

Internally:

  • Leads internal communication strategies to elevate company cultural connections
  • Ensures that employees are aware of key points of view (POV), programs, projects and changes within the company
  • Creates and distributes home office messages, prepares presentations and internal communications
  • Develop and execute upon Team Springs branding strategies for employee use, including identification of the appropriate message, tone, cadence and placement of communications per audience and channel
  • Act as communications coach for employees training and development
  • Oversees internal social media strategy and plans
  • Identifies channels and programming to ensure a successful 2-way communication feedback loop and conduit
  • Supports The Springs Living strategic objectives by building and leading communication platforms
  • Develops internal communications campaigns based on values, strategic objectives and pillars
  • Identifies appropriate channels for communications and develops project plan, including calendar, for each communication channel such as the intranet, email, and internal social media platform
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Appreciates important, but small details
  • Able to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced understanding of social media and forward-thinking with new technologies
  • Looks for process-improvements via software and communication
  • Understands (or is willing to learn) the business of working in senior living enough to develop key messaging to internal audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, business administration or related fields
  • 7+ years’ experience in communications
