Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Data Delivery, the Data Product Manager will set the direction for their product squad to build improvements to the Rank data platform, to deliver measurable benefits to the Group business.

The Product Manager shows iterative, regular progress against objectives, using data to create business advantage and being a champion for data-driven decision-making in the business.

Responsibilities – Discovery and Planning

  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops to understand problems to be solved and benefits sought; propose how data can achieve these objectives.
  • Define the product vision and write business cases where appropriate.
  • Develop product roadmaps and backlogs, using prioritisation techniques to order the backlog.
  • Develop user stories and acceptance requirements, with the support of the business and data analysts.
  • Ensure that the data squad roadmap is focused on the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for owning the plan to deliver their roadmap.

Responsibilities – People

  • Work in collaboration with stakeholders to develop user stories.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams anbd multiple data providers to specify and deliver data feed ingestion.
  • Demonstrate leadership within a positive, open-feedback team culture and environment to boost engagement, ownership, honesty, and accountability.
  • Demonstrate innovative ideas and ways of thinking and encourages debate within their team to contribute and discuss creative solutions.
  • Motivate their team when faced with challenges.
  • Show leadership and inspires, even without direct line management responsibility.
  • Provide clear communication and visibility for the wider stakeholder group to keep them informed of progress on new development, and KPIs as required for decision making.

Responsibilities – Delivery

  • Ensure any changes made to the data platform are in line with the long-term architectural goals, including enhancing the Single Customer View, and the accessibility and maintainability of the platform.
  • Communicate progress towards the squad's objectives, using tools such as Jira, Confluence and PowerBI and demonstrable deliverables.
  • Be prepared to pivot the roadmap and backlog on the basis of learnings and justify these changes to the wider business.
  • Ensure compliance, GDPR, security, data governance and regulatory standards are considered and adhered to.
  • Ensure safer gambling processes and guidelines are maintained and improved, using data to do so.
  • Measure the benefit of the deliverables in meeting the intended objectives, using KPIs which are shared with the wider business.
  • Collate qualitative feedback from stakeholders after a period of usage.

Qualifications

  • Software delivery or testing background, the experience of software dev methodologies (eg agile/scrum, TDD), in order to talk technical with the engineering team.
  • Ability to think through solutions logically and see how alternative solutions impact the quality and impact of the final deliverable.
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a fast-paced industry, within regulatory constraints, showing flexibility while retaining core standards.
  • Experience in using agile backlog and task management tools, such as Jira and Confluence, or similar.
  • Experience in building roadmaps to share with stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule multiple dependent moving parts to deliver against the objectives.
  • Experience working on data or analytics products is key, including familiarity with basic data processing and architecture terms. An understanding of common data quality issues is expected.
  • Able to influence all levels of the organisation using evidence- and data-based arguments.
