Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an analytical and detail-oriented research analyst to assist with improving the operations and decision-making of Farm produce purchase. The research analyst's responsibilities include researching, collecting, analyzing, interpreting data on farm produce and using the data to guide the business's decision-making.

The research analyst should be prepared to work across various departments, such as marketing, product development, business operations, finance. As such, the research analyst must possess excellent mathematical, critical thinking, and communication skills. The analyst must be disciplined and accountable enough to work both independently an as an active member of a team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Optimize relationship with NSPRI to define practical ratio of raw farm produce (rodo, tomatoes, tatashe, onions and shombo) to dehydrated quantity of same.
  • Analyze data shared on raw input that we currently process (blend and cook) for dehydration and follow up experiment with PD to ascertain reconversion of pulverized mix yield preferred outcome in terms of quality, taste and look.
  • Define how long to store dehydrated product without compromising quality, what material for storage, ideal temperature, probable infestation occurrence, prevention of infestation etc etc.
  • Ascertain mode of prolonged storage i.e., in dehydrated chunk or pulverized without diminishing quality.
  • Research other private organizations that as successfully deliver on this, especially take learnings from those exporting 'form' already.
  • Research on model of industrial dehydrator that can deliver on our volume, cost and all.
  • Assess modalities of installing dehydrator at farm gate (hub), solar powered to reduce energy cost, any risk to investment etc

Qualifications

  • Background in food science.
  • Experience in sourcing or any agricultural commodity will be an added advantage.
  • 1–2-year post NYSC experience.
  • Experience with pepper, tomatoes, onions, spices, or similar crops will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of post-harvest handling, drying technologies (solar, gas, biomass, or industrial dehydrators), and moisture management.
  • Understanding of quality assurance, food safety, etc.
  • Must be flexible and can travel when required.
