Job Description

Responsibilities: The Mechanical Equipment and Facilities Maintenance Technician performs general building and grounds maintenance, in accordance with company policies and procedures

  • Performs facility maintenance
  • Performs routine maintenance on property and related structures.
  • Performs snow removal through the use of tractors, trucks, snowplows, and snow loaders.
  • Coordinates with contractors and provides recommendations to contractors when deemed agreed upon by ownership. Inspects contracted work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Maintains lawn maintenance, applies pesticides and fertilizers, and assists with landscaping planting.
  • Erects, removes, repairs, and maintains signage throughout the property.
  • Maintains equipment and tools used in the performance of duties.
  • Assists other departments as needed, holds a place in on-call schedule, and maintains availability for emergency situations.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units.
  • Makes repairs or adjustments to maintain equipment in production.
  • Installs, repairs, rebuilds, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services. 
  • Diagnoses machine malfunctions and operating difficulties.
  • Rebuilds machines and overhauls troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement of purchased parts.
  • Performs skilled operations such as filing and aligning bearings, spindles, and shafts; adjusts feed and limit mechanisms, gibs, and ways.
  • Performs various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment involving dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting, and aligning operations.
  • Assists in determining the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion.
  • Trains employees on forklift and crane.
  • Maintains a safe, efficient, and organized maintenance department/work area
  • Maintains required maintenance logs and files.
  • Performs routine housekeeping activities in the department and ensures adherence to established safety procedures and requirements.
  • Submits requisitions for tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Interprets company policies for workers and enforces safety regulations

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a broad knowledge of mechanical repair and maintenance as may be acquired in three years formalized program including blueprint reading and interpretation plus up to three years of extensive experience in a variety of maintenance trades.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare purchase orders. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
