Lead Product Manager

  • Full-time
  • Compensation: INR 0 - INR 0 - yearly

Company Description

Gracenote, a Nielsen company, is dedicated to connecting audiences to the entertainment they love, powering a better media future for all people.  We are the content data business unit of Nielsen that powers innovative entertainment experiences for the world’s leading media companies.  Our entertainment metadata and connected IDs deliver advanced content navigation and discovery to connect consumers to the content they love and discover new ones.

Job Description

  • Gracenote's Data Platform is the central hub for millions of pieces of TV entertainment data used daily by clients and partners worldwide. It provides the critical services that structure and model data for our editorial, ingest, and delivery systems.  This data powers entertainment solutions for the top cable, OTT, CE, and digital clients, reaching hundreds of millions of consumers.
  • We are hiring a lead product manager to own this platform from our Bengaluru engineering center. This role has a deliberate arc.
  • Initially, this is a hands-on role. You will write specs and requirements yourself, work directly with engineers and data architects, analyze data with your own queries, and build deep fluency in the platform. We are looking for someone senior who still genuinely enjoys this work.
  • As the platform and your fluency mature, the role expands into a player-coach position, which will build and mentor a product team in India while remaining close to the platform. Candidates should be excited by both halves of this trajectory, not just the second one.
  • You will be the lead product presence co-located with our engineering organization, partnering across time zones with Dataset and Delivery Product Managers and commercial stakeholders based in the US and Europe. This is not a satellite role.  It is that the product anchor for our engineering center.
  • An ideal candidate will have 8+ years of Product Management experience and a proven track record of end-to-end ownership and delivering results.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and delivery for Gracenote's Data Platform,  the system that structures and models complex TV entertainment data for internal consumers and clients alike.

  • Work closely with Global Dataset and Delivery Product Managers to understand the business problems in creating and structuring complex entertainment data, and translate those needs into a clear, prioritized roadmap.

  • Partner directly with engineering teams and Data Architects to shape data models, write detailed requirements, and drive hand-on execution, especially in the first phase of the role.

  • Define and own the platform's key input and output metrics. Establish platform SLAs and quality measures, and publish them so internal and external consumers can hold the platform accountable.

  • Operate effectively across a globally distributed organization: strong async written communication, disciplined documentation, and willingness to flex hours for overlap with US/EU stakeholders.

  • Over time, hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing product team in India while remaining an active individual contributor on the most complex platform problems.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years on platform or data products.

  • Demonstrated appetite for hands-on IC work at a senior level: writing specs, querying data, working directly in the details with engineering.

  • Actively uses LLMs in day-to-day product work:  to accelerate analysis, drive better decisions, automate repetitive PM tasks, and achieve measurable outcomes. Be prepared to walk through concrete examples in the interview.

  • Comfortable with XML, JSON, SQL, and REST APIs; able to write or LLM-assist your own scripts in Python or SQL to answer product questions.

  • Experience working within structured, milestone-driven development processes and delivering predictably against commitments.

  • Highly metrics-driven: able to distill a complex platform into a small set of key input and output metrics and use them to drive decisions.

  • Track record of driving execution rigor in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication; proven ability to influence stakeholders across geographies and time zones.

  • Interest and aptitude for people leadership: prior mentoring, coaching, or team-lead experience, and genuine motivation to build a team as the role grows.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience with TV/entertainment metadata, EPG data, content supply chains, or adjacent media data domains.

  • Experience partnering with Data Architects to shape complex business data into coherent, extensible, scalable structures.

  • Prior experience as a hiring manager or formal people manager.
