Job Description

We are seeking a curious and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our Content Insights organization. In this role, you will be the primary engine behind our data storytelling, transforming raw metrics into the "surprise and delight" content that fuels Nielsen’s global brand. You will support the Senior Manager in testing hypotheses and uncovering trends, all while ensuring that every piece of data we publish passes through our rigorous Quality Integrity Gate. You are not just a number-cruncher; you are a narrative builder who understands the "why" behind the data.
 

What You’ll Do Data Storytelling & Content Support

  • Macro & Micro-Narratives: Perform the underlying data analysis for Nielsen’s flagship reports and help repurpose these insights into micro-narratives for social media, podcasts, and demand gen workstreams.

  • Trend Recognition: Proactively identify cultural trends and test their impact within Nielsen’s datasets to mine for timely data points that can fuel social media posts.

  • Client Roadshows: Analyze and package bespoke data insights for client roadshows, ensuring 100% accuracy and strategic relevance for our valued partners.

Operational Excellence & Data Integrity

  • The Integrity Gate: Act as the primary guardian of data quality, executing the quality check protocol for all external reports and insights.

  • AI-First Workflow: Utilize and help develop AI-driven tools to automate repetitive calculations, contributing to the department's goal of reducing data analysis time by 20%.

  • Dashboards & Visualization: Build and maintain performance dashboards in Looker or Tableau that provide real-time visibility for Brand, Lifecycle, and Product Marketing teams.

Market Priming & Growth

  • Growth Product Support: Support the Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy for Ad Intel, Streaming, and Creator solutions by providing the market-priming research necessary to establish Nielsen as an intelligence leader.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in Data Analysis, Marketing Analytics, or Research, preferably within the Advertising or Media industry.

  • Technology: Proficiency in Excel is required, knowledge of the Google suite of software is a major plus. Experience with more advanced data manipulation and visualization tools is also a bonus.

  • Nielsen Product Savvy: Familiarity with Nielsen’s core datasets (e.g., National TV, Streaming, Ad Intel) and an interest in the evolving Creator Economy.

  • Detail-Oriented Storyteller: A relentless focus on data integrity combined with the ability to translate complex charts into clear, actionable business narratives for a variety of audiences.

  • Agile Learner: Eager to achieve certification in new core skills, including prompt engineering and advanced data storytelling techniques.
