The Morning Star Company, and its affiliates, operate three tomato processing facilities in Central California, processing 25% to 30% of the California crop, plus tomato transplanting, farming, harvesting and trucking operations, with employment of approximately 400 year-round and 2,000 seasonal colleagues and annual sales of about $1 billion.

This colleague’s Mission will be to maintain the competitive position of the enterprise as an “employer-of-choice,” by rigorously researching compensation and benefits, and ensuring perfect compliance with government regulations. In addition, this person will provide support to the payroll and benefits administration Colleagues.
This position is responsible for organizational year-end process activities, ACA compliance, payroll processing, assist with benefit administration,
This position will be based in our Woodland office. Compensation is expected to be in the range of $16.00 to $20.00 per hour, or greater, depending upon qualifications.
Specific responsibilities include, at least, the following:
- Assist with processing payroll
- Process Weekly Allocations for Health, Life and Workers Comp Insurance
- Tracking ACA eligibility for all colleagues
- Tracking Harassment Training compliance
- Assist with Insurance claims complaints
- Coordination of year-end compensation process
- Company surveys (Year-around & Seasonal)
- Compensation surveys (Year-around & Seasonal)
- Annual review and updates of Colleague Guidelines
- Contract Management
While previous experience in the realm of payroll, accounting, or human resources is appreciated, these are not the most important factors. Perseverance, detail orientation, and ability with numbers are the most important fundamentals.
