The Alliance is also charged with identifying and impacting systemic inequities and structurally violent practices and structures that create access barriers for vulnerable, racially, and ethnically diverse populations.

Position Summary

The Alliance is seeking a dynamic, persuasive, self-starter to join our team as a Strategic Public Financing Coordinator. In this role, you will coordinate and align people, data, and money around common goals for young children in Montgomery County. The Alliance is looking for a movement builder who is eager to learn and to leverage research, relationship management, and project management skills in bold and innovative ways.

This role has an explicit focus on advancing sustainable and equitable funding for young children, and will be responsible for helping. The Alliance and community partners answer the following three questions on an ongoing and continuous basis as strategies are developed and implemented: (1) how much are we (as a community) investing in our priorities for young children?; (2) what is the true cost of investing in our priorities for young children?; and (3) how can we fill the gap between current investment and the true cost. 

Responsibilities

  • Track, map, and analyze public and private financial investments in early care and education programs and services in Montgomery County
  • Estimate true costs of designing and implementing new programs, strategies and/or policy priorities, with willingness to learn methods such as cost modeling and/or cost estimation
  • Conduct research on new public funding sources with potential to help fill the gap between current investments in children and the actual cost of achieving community goals
  • Assess the feasibility of various methods for securing new funding by conducting environmental scans and maintaining relationships with stakeholders such as the business community; make recommendations as to the most successful action plan for securing new funding
  • Facilitate meetings with community partners, local budget holders, local elected officials, state government representatives, and advocacy organizations
  • Participate in training and coaching from national Financing experts; build and maintain relationships with national, state, and local partners to stay up-to-date on best practices and lessons learned from across the country

Qualifications

  • BA/BS (preferred) or AA degree and/or 3 years experience in public policy, education, finance, public health, social work or related field
  • Evidence of knowledge of and meaningful relationships with communities most impacted by the equitable distribution of public and private resources to support children and youth
  • Commitment to building expertise in public financing and understanding budgets
  • Interest in developing skills in innovative public policy analysis tools
  • Exceptional interpersonal and facilitation skills, including the ability to manage cross-sector relationships, facilitate meetings, and give persuasive presentations
  • Experience with data or information collection and attention to quality and detail in ensuring accuracy of information
  • Efficient and high-quality formal or informal research skills (e.g., market research, data analysis, surveying, tagging/coding information, and/or experience tracking and managing information on
  • spreadsheets)
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and resourceful
  • Experience with Excel, Tableau, and/or Power BI preferred
  • Knowledge of the Montgomery County early childhood system preferred

Compensation

The salary range for the position $60,000 to $80,000 per year.
