Senior Staff Research Scientist II: Informational Bioinformatics Researcher

  • Full-time

Company Description

Hexagon Lavish® is a scientific research and development start-up based in the United States. The company initially was focused in machine learning techniques but now has evolved into a small company that's devoted to utilizing "unorthodox" research methodologies in theoretical development and uncompromised use of mathematics and science.

PIR: Premier Information Retrieval will be a resultant product from the platform, IISS (Informational Interpretation Scientific Software). PIR will be designed as software for immediate detection, distinction, classification and analysis.

Desmond J. Watson, co-founder and chief executive officer of Hexagon Lavish®,  is putting together a small team of researchers, mathematicians, engineers and programmers for this startup. Job Description

Hexagon Lavish® has an open full-time/permanent Senior Staff Research Scientist II position for an experienced Informational Bioinformatics Researcher with a background in computational biology coupled with an engaging focus in designing software for analyzing ecosystems and sequence alignment.

The candidate should be familiar with the Wright-Fisher model, Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and the Neutral model. The candidate must also possess an understanding of scoring methods such as the blossom scoring matrix.

This position will require close collaboration with other research scientists involved with the PIR (Premier Information Retrieval) research project, working in the capacity of aligning PIR research with a derived understanding of how allergenic substances can be “detected” by the PIR application. The candidate will be tasked with providing the bioinformatics development for the PIR software and the essential PIR categories of the informational interpretation scientific software. The Informational Bioinformatics Researcher will also be tasked with "leading" the bioinformatic-research for the distinction functionality for the PIR mobile application.

The successful candidate will have acquired advanced knowledge of generation and analysis of sequence data; have extensive knowledge of coding languages for data mining and the development of tools, such as R, Python, Java and SQL; experience with large multi-dimensional data sets; some knowledge and experience with genetic statistics analytical methods; and the ability to identify, propose and develop a new form of technology and methodology to bioinformatics research.
