Hexagon Lavish® has a full-time/permanent position for an experienced Formidable Lead Scientist for you--or someone else.

The Lead Scientist will be held responsible for the management and coordination of all HL® research projects, working alongside the company’s staff on PIR research and other projects with a proof-of-concepts approach and will also report directly to the Director of R&D.

Other responsibilities will include planning, performing, directing, presenting and defending research and development work on simple and complex algorithms and heuristics to support software development, mathematical concepts and progress of project research. The Lead Scientist will also be responsible for authoring or reviewing/editing documents that define new or revised algorithms. 

The position includes planning and directing projects, supplying technical inspiration and leadership abilities. 

Having the means and desire to go on the road and successfully sell implemented solutions directly to colleagues and customers and attend conferences is crucial. 

The Lead Scientist will be tasked with formulating research goals and objectives in collaboration with the Director of R&D on other teams and assist with directing the research efforts to achieve agreed upon directions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide scientific leadership and advises the Director of R&D on research plans and programs in core areas and related technologies

• Conceives, plans and advocates major research and development activities

• Maintains liaison with industry and evaluates potential sources of supply

• Setting and executing long term R&D strategies and allocating budgets towards priority activities

• Experienced in performing and leading extensive work in machine learning, practical artificial intelligence, advanced computing, human-computer interaction, computer vision, intelligence discovery or related fields

• Able to oversee and lead a portfolio of novel research in rapidly advancing technical fields such as human-machine interaction, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced computing

• Lead the startup's process to plan, develop, and carry out an overall research and technology development strategy, and influence the national research agenda regarding future technology

• The Lead Scientist will perform deep dives and prepares white papers/Innovation briefs

• Drive human-computer interactions through AI powered UI’s and create models for human-like interaction between humans and computers

• Be open to the opportunity to initiate and drive innovation roadmaps and research as an inspiring leader in Informational Interpretation

• A PhD preferably an advanced clinical degree in an area relevant to Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

• Minimum 15+ plus years’ experience in AI/ML with a supporting track record leading AI initiatives in research and development

• Color vision and depth perception required

• Large-scale software development and integration experience

• Must be willing to engage in "esoteric programming"

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Identifies, plans and executes novel scientific projects and may manage the work of others a direct or matrixed structure

• 15+ years of experience in a complex, multi-site environment high-tech/scientific R&D organization

• Experience in creating and managing external partner relationships, developing joint ventures and preferred provider agreements

• Establish and delegate responsibilities, authority and decision-making appropriately
