Hexagon Lavish® is a scientific research and development start-up based in Georgia that has an opening for a full-time/permanent position for a Senior Scientific Programmer II: AI Conversion Analytics Researcher.

The Senior Scientific Programmer II: AI Conversion Analytics Researcher will be responsible for supporting multiple projects and will work with senior engineers and scientists as far as helping with design architectures, interfaces, sensor data interpretation and the development of advanced algorithms for both signal and image processing applications and preparation of sensors and sensor implementation.

The Senior Scientific Programmer II: AI Conversion Analytics Researcher will also be responsible for conducting numerical analysis and tasks involving research in electromagnetic phenomena and sensor redundancy. The candidates chosen for the position of Senior Scientific Programmer II: AI Conversion Analytics Researcher will have a background with significant experience in scientific/numerical software development in regards to writing scientific software and applying such software tools that will solve real world problems.

Qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop accurate, effective, and efficient computational strategies for solutions to physics and numerical analysis problems.

 

  • Troubleshoot and fix errors occurring in existing and newly developed software elements.

 

  • Assure that software development projects are complete and accurate.

 

  • Complete software projects in a timely fashion according to internal and external schedules.

 

  • Provide software programming skills for support of research and development projects in the areas of Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Programming and Image and Signal Processing

 

  • Prepare and deliver reports and/or presentations of research projects/analysis results to the Chief Scientist I

 

  • Assists the Research Programmers, Research Statisticians, I.I. Analysts and Chief Scientist I with the status reports

 

  • Prepare and deliver software development reviews

 

  • Prepare software and sometimes user documentation

 

  • Troubleshoot and fix errors occurring in existing and newly developed software elements

 

  • Assure that software development projects are complete and accurate

 

  • Apply software engineering best practices in the development process

 

  • Pre-processing algorithms to correct image data prior to reconstruction

 

  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains programs

 

  • Design and implement data infrastructure; Ensure the integrity and security of data, code, and analytical experiments

 

  • Research, develop, and integrate new technologies and computational approaches to enhance and accelerate scientific research

 

  • Collaborate with scientists and Research IT peers to provide consulting services around parallel algorithm development and workflow optimization for the High Performance Computing (HPC) platform

 

  • Programs databases according to design specifications of data models using state-of-the-art languages to access databases

 

  • Implement machine learning models to automate preprocessing, quality control, and computational data analysis

 

  • Be able to compile, test, debug and document the application

 

  • Resolves symbolic formulations, prepares flowcharts and block diagrams, and encodes resultant equations for processing by applying extensive knowledge of scientific programming, engineering, and/or advanced mathematics
 
  • Fluent in the C language, C++, FORTRAN, Ada and/or Julia
 
  • Able to exemplify an expertise in esoteric programming in programming languages that most software engineers and programmers may not be familiar with

Additional Information

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Experience developing and testing numerical environmental prediction codes in a high-performance computing environment
 
  • 10+ years of experience in a complex, multi-site environment high-tech/scientific R&D organization
 
  • Demonstrated skill in performing tasks requiring organization and an attention to detail
 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment on complex problems
 
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating effectively with scientists of diverse backgrounds on technical details of the work plan and present results accurately and clearly in both oral and written form
 
  • At the bare minimum, possesses a Bachelor's with 10 years of experience, a Master's with 5 years of experience or a PhD in the following: Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Information Technologies, Statistics, Human Physiology or Societal Computing
 
  • Packaging of the scientific core of complete software elements (i.e., objects, library modules, occasional complete applications)
