Job Description

The Hayner Hoyt Corporation, a 50+ year leader in the commercial construction industry in Central and Upstate New York, is seeking a Human Resources Manager who will be responsible for managing and administering all human resources policies, programs and practices for The Hayner Hoyt Corporation, LeMoyne Interiors, and Doyner, Inc. including: benefits, compensation, recruiting, employee relations, training and development, performance management, and conflict resolution.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, recommend and implement company policies, procedures, and practices to meet the strategic needs of the company.
  • Develop and implement policies and programs to ensure compliance with Federal and State legislation pertaining to all personnel matters. Review all policies related to these areas and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Manage and oversee a comprehensive employee benefit program including new employee enrollment, benefit communication, open enrollment, and bill reconciliation. Meet with carriers/brokers to analyze utilization, negotiate premiums and recommend benefit changes/enhancements as required. Respond to employee benefit inquiries to ensure quick and courteous resolution.
  • Administer federal and state leave policies such as FMLA, PFL, state disability, short term disability, and long term disability.
  • Plans and facilitates an effective and strategic recruiting and staffing program by attending career fairs, coordinating and conducting interviews, checking references, assisting with the final decision process and writing offer letters. Schedule and conduct employee on-boarding process to promote new employee engagement.
  • Coordinate the performance management program to ensure timely and honest employee feedback. Maintain annual/other schedule, distribute and collect review forms, schedule and participate in employee review and discipline meetings. Assist managers in completing review and or disciplinary meetings as required.
  • Conduct and or review benching and market data to maintain a competitive salary and benefit structure. Provide input for salary and/or changes as requested.
  • Identify training needs and implement training programs to develop employee skills and promote employee retention.
  • Respond to outside and/or employee requests for assistance for all HR related issues.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Perform a variety of administrative and/or clerical duties for all HR related matters including but not limited to: benefit enrollment, employee communications and documentation, record retention, employee event coordination, leave management, recruiting and employee separations.

 

 

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of increasing responsibility in a generalist role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources practices
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
  • Skill in organizing and establishing priorities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be detail-oriented and well organized
